Simple Loyalties in Lagos
Prologue: Bus Smiled at 7:43am
The bus is that point of relief and reflection. From the trekking, the running, the adventure of
crossing Lagos roads, the hasty struggles at bus stops and the fight for territoriality on danfo seats.
When it’s all done and the bus starts moving, you finally breathe and at peace, but your mind is not.
It continuously asks you whether this Lagos madness is worth it, when would it eventually end or
when would you finally live in a city that loves you. As this interior conversation goes on, you take
breaks and enjoy unprovoked drama within or outside the bus, but there is one that pulls you back
to reality and strikes a really short smile across you and your companions…
